NIRS, proactively adopts AI to cyber security management practice
- Placed an order for implementing an AI based next-generation security management system -

Cyber security management scheme of digital government systems is expected to be evolved into an intelligent defense system using AI technology.
- NIRS announced that it had placed an order to implement a next-generation security defense system based on AI.
- This project will be executed for 3 years, and the size of the 2018 project ordered this time is about 7.3 billion won.

NIRS has carried out the Information Strategy Planning (ISP) project last year for the project, and has been conducting various technology verifications to apply AI with domestic professional companies.

By implementing an AI based next-generation security system, it is possible to automatically identify actual attacks from the vast amount of abnormalities generated by various security devices.
- It is also expected that the range and time to respond to security threats will be drastically improved by learning normal service usage behaviors.

In 2018, NIRS will implement a basic system such as an AI platform. Based on this, it will develop a learning model that can automatically identify attacks for more that 5% of the total data and plan to expand the response range to more than 80% by 2020.

The project, which harnesses the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution such as AI, Big Data, and security, is the latest field that is hard to find elsewhere worldwide.
- Large corporations as well as specialized ones can participate in the project.

In order to pre-verify the technological capabilities of companies wishing to participate, Benchmark Test (BMT) is conducted, and the results are reflected in the evaluation.

Ms. Kim, the President of NIRS, stated, "We will focus all our capabilities and strive to complete the project successfully by taking this time as an opportunity to dramatically improve the level of cyber security defense competencies in Korea. I am looking forward for many professional companies in the field to proactively participating in the project."
