¿µ»ó ÀÚ¸· An unprecedented integration of Computing Resources for government IT system has begun. It was another challenge following the location integration for the IT infrastructure. Based on the successful "location integration" of information resources in the first stage of the project, the Government has begun Stage 2, which includes establishing a resource integration pool and beginning the Computing Resource Integration Project. And in Stage 3, it is integrating services to achieve a more advanced level of resource integration. The Government-wide Computing Resource Integration Project has created greater values through the shared use of resources. The key to the Computing Resource Integration Project is having the National Computing & Information Agency establish all the hardware and system software for building a government affairs information system and sharing it among all government bodies, instead of having independent departments purchase these items separately. To successfully integrate resources, the National Computing & Information Agency determines the amount of information system each government body requires. The Center is granted the budget for purchasing the system based on the requirements of the government bodies. The Center purchases a high-performance, high-capacity integrated information system and preserves resources in an optimal operating state. This is what we call an Information Resource Pool. When a government body 's demand for information resources increases, the National Computing & Information Agency provides the required amount of resources from the Information Resource Pool in a timely manner so that the government body can deploy new services. On the other hand, information resources that are no longer needed are collected by the Information Resource Pool and are reserved for other purposes in the future. In case of independent systems, each government body must establishes the infrastructure such as electricity, facilities, and communications, and purchases the hardware and software. But through the National Computing & Information Agency's Information Resource Integration, each government body can request and utilize a packaged unit of information resources along with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The Information Resource Integration has already shown outstanding results in terms of system maintenance, administration and service quality. The shared use of information systems maximizes efficiency in utilizing resources. Having different government bodies share information systems and system software from the Information Resource Pool reduces waste of resources. Furthermore, unused resources can be utilized in other tasks, making the overall management of information resources more efficient. Integration of information resources makes it possible to cope with increasing demands. When a government body requires additional resources to cope with higher demand, those resources can be provided in a timely manner from the information resource pool. The integration of information resources has also shown significant cost saving. Large quantity purchases of new equipment and recycling old equipment have reduced purchasing costs by 30%, and also saved on space and electricity used by the computing equipment including HVAC. The saved amount can be used for building other information systems, which are providing better quality e-Government services to the people. The integration of information resources also leads to the creation of a green data center. The total energy consumption reduction from the integration totals 1,102 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to planting 4.3 million trees. The integration also improves the security of the information system. Thanks to the integrated security systems as F/W, Ins, Ips and Anti-DDoS System with skillful security experts.. NCIA can provide more secure cyber world to the gov. agencies with 24x7. The integration also improves the overall quality of e-government services. The high-performance, high-capacity equipment is managed and administered by leading experts under an optimal environment, resulting in higher quality e-Government services being provided to the people. The information resources integration project is not just the integration of hardware and software. It is an integration of services. To achieve this goal, the Korean government is now utilizing Cloud computing. Cloud computing is a new computing environment where resources of computers at different physical locations are integrated using virtualization technologies, then served to the users. In a cloud environment, the users (government bodies) with different purposes have access to high-quality information resources anytime, just like water and electricity. Therefore, we will establish an efficient resource supply system by engineering and building information resources according to the needs of different government bodies, and provide those resources in a more convenient and stable manner. "From owning to sharing" A system that engineers, builds, and distributes resources according to the e-Government service demands of each government body! The National Computing & Information Agency is building an efficient information resource supply mechanism! Through the integration of the government¡¯s information resources, the National Computing & Information Agency will become the world¡¯s best national IT hub! Seaking challenges toward a greater IT world! Based on greater value through integration, the National Computing & Information Agency will move forward the new future of Korea¡¯s e-Government!
